“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”

Dr. Jane Goodall, Scientist & Activist

Making a positive difference has been an integral part of the Allshelter mission and this philosophy has always been at the forefront when we are designing our products and delivering our services. We are committed to not only taking care of our clients and our people but also the environment we operate in.

Sustainability plays a key role in the way we purchase raw materials, create our products, and provide our products and services. Our commitment has been recognized by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC).

The Infrastructure Sustainability Council is the peak body in Australia and New Zealand for ensuring that infrastructure projects meet sustainability objectives. The council works with various stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure projects meet sustainability objectives such as being more energy efficient, having a lower carbon footprint, utilizing less water and other resources etc. The council accesses various stages of a project and then gives an appropriate Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating.

Allshelter is proud of the fact that our products have been given specific IS credits which means that when companies use our fabric shelters, they can claim these credits towards their overall sustainability rating. We are one of the few companies to be listed as an Isupplier on the ISC’s ISupply Directory. The purpose of the ISupply Directory is to connect businesses with suppliers which will help said businesses achieve sustainability outcomes rewarded under ISC’s scheme.

To get an idea of the IS credits that are available when you use Allshelter products, have a look at our ISupply listing.

Our fabric products offer IS credits because of certain unique features, namely:

Offering abundant natural lighting
  • The steel frame in any of our shelter solution products is 100% recyclable
  • The frame and cover are packaged in a compact lightweight (50% lighter compared to conventional structures) kit form which helps reduce the carbon footprint during transport
  • The fabric cover is 100% reusable
  • Energy Efficiency: The fabric allows ample light to pass through thus there is no need to use artificial lighting during the day
  • Energy efficiency: The fabric offers a cooling environment and reduces the energy expenditure on artificial cooling systems

As the effects of climate change become more prominent, governments and experts are urging companies to aim for more sustainable operations and supply chains. To ensure that business heed this call, many governments have started mandating that projects are appropriately rated for sustainability outcomes.

In NSW, Australia, any infrastructure projects over $50 million are mandated by government to be IS rated. This threshold is $10 million in the ACT and varies across other states.

By using Allshelter products, companies can ensure that they are compliant and achieve the satisfactory IS rating. Moreover, these companies would be doing themselves a service as the public has increasingly begun to support only those businesses that have a positive social and environmental impact.
