Founded in Australia by Alastair MacKellar in 1966, they have provided services in tough and harsh environments, working on mining and civil earthwork projects. MacKellar Group has partnered with leading original equipment manufacturers, including Caterpillar, Liebherr, and Komatsu, and now operates over 350 large mining machines throughout Australia.
MacKellar Group has operated a diverse range of equipment, from the entire fleet of 300-tonne class rear dump trucks and 670-tonne class excavators to small civil equipment, thereby reducing the risks to their clients. In such harsh remote environments, reliable heat and rain protection is paramount, which is where Allshelter comes in to assist.
The Project Brief
The Australian weather can be unforgiving, especially in remote areas with a scarce amount of vegetation for shading. The specific operation is located in Blackwater, and MacKellar Group required a structure that would provide shade for their personnel while they service and maintain their heavy mining equipment. The structure also needed to be readily relocatable and large enough to house massive vehicles, such as the Komatsu 980E-4 (9.08m W x 13.3m L x 8.0m H).
